It’s Official! The 4th Annual Global Women’s March is in January of 2020

On January 21st of 2017, millions of women and allies around the world took to the streets to make themselves seen and heard, demonstrating to advance women’s human rights. Now, nearly three years later, the Women’s March movement has announced that on January 18, 2020, feminists and women’s human rights defenders will march yet again in the 4th Annual Global Women’s March.

With the slogan, “Women’s Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Women’s Rights,” females and their supporters will rise up in an intersectional march to demand the end of violence against women, reproductive freedom, LGBTI+ rights, workers’ rights, civil rights, disability rights, immigrant rights, indigenous rights, and climate justice.

Isa Noyola, co-president of the Women’s March, released a statement announcing that the multitudinary event will be the last march before the 2020 election. “Three years of marching, training, organizing, and building power – it’s all been leading up to this. In 2020, we have a chance to finish what we started three years ago and remove Trump from office,” wrote Noyola. “Our democracy is under siege – Donald Trump and his cronies are morally bankrupt and growing more brazen with their lawbreaking every day. Meanwhile, our climate is in peril, our reproductive freedom is under attack, and racist bigots are writing our immigration policies.”

Noyola proceeded to invite each and everyone woman and ally as a way to make January 18, 2020, the largest day of action the country has ever seen, to demand that our leaders hold Trump accountable, protect our planet, and fight for our rights. “From Puerto Rico to Chile, and Lebanon to Ecuador – we’ve seen that mass protests and people-powered movements make change happen. When millions take to the streets, it sends an undeniable message that we the people are fed up – and that our power is unstoppable,” she added. “Let’s fight harder than we’ve ever fought for our freedom and rise up together to demand a better future for our country.”

From Perth, Australia to Washington D.C, absolutely everyone can take action during this new decade of activism and join a Women’s March Global Chapter or become a member and host an event.
