The United Kingdom has historically been known for musical greats like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Spice Girls, to name a few. But there’s a new sensation breaking down the expectations of the UK, and this sensation has a name: Amber Donoso.
Reggaeton and Latin music is a natural occurrence in the United States and Latin America. It feels like you can’t turn a corner without hearing the urban beats blasting from someone’s car.
However, we often don’t immediately think of the vibrancy of reggaeton and Latin urban music outside of where we expect it to be prevalent. For instance, many people’s brains might not connect the Urban genre and the UK. It almost sounds off, but that is a misconception that needs to disappear. And it is.
Amber Donoso is an artist whose roots are embedded in both Europe and South America. She is half British, half Chilean, and is currently living in London. Now, she is using her background to create fresh sounds that intertwine with her Latinx background.
The artist, who is also a talented songwriter, recently released “Candela,” which can easily captivate listeners from North America, Latin America, the UK, and other regions worldwide.
As she moves towards solidifying her unique style into the world, she recently released “Candela” to align with her colorful palette of musical skills.
Amber Donoso has been regarded as one of the up-and-coming Latin artists of London because her rhythm encompasses influences from Reggaeton. It almost sounds like a novelty, but it’s more than that — it’s a much-welcomed phenomenon.
Being that there is so much to learn about her (and with reason!), we spoke with her to learn more about what drives her, and this is what she had to say:
On her inspiration…
I grew up listening to a lot of Latin music, especially Reggaeton. I’ve always
loved the confidence, sexuality, and passion which the genre holds. I wanted to create my own spin on the genre, hence why I infuse R&B within my music.
Music has always been my passion and what has made me happy.
On her blueprint…
Many artists have inspired me for different reasons. Lauryn Hill and Erykah
Buddy inspired my songwriting, Shakira and Gwen Stefani inspired my stage
performance and my style. Bad Bunny inspired me to embrace my
individuality and being different. J Blavin also inspired me to never give up on
my dreams and to be open and transparent with my fans and listeners.
On motivating others…
Never give up on your dreams. No matter what the job or aspiration is. I really
do believe that perseverance and practice are their beautiful combo for
success. Be open to learning from people you admire around you.
On her new release…
I’m super excited to share my latest single, “Candela,” with you all. The song
was written on my balcony in Miami during my last trip there. This song holds a very special place in my heart, so I feel truly blessed to be able to
share it with the world.
