Talented actress and producer Aubrey Plaza will star in Hulu’s drama pilot “Olga Dies Dreaming,” based on the novel of the same name by Xochitl Gonzalez.
As reported by Variety, Plaza will star in the title role as Olga, a renowned wedding planner whose superficial successes hide a darker inner self.
The series was ordered as a pilot on the streamer in April and tells the story of a Nuyorican brother and sister from gentrified Sunset Park, Brooklyn, coping with their mother’s absence.
“This character is hilarious and awkward but also sophisticated and tormented and (torturously) tries to fit into so many different worlds,” Gonzalez shared on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see [Aubrey Plaza] rock Olga’s Air Force 1’s.”
Plaza rose to fame for her TV roles in such hits as “Parks and Recreation” and “Legion” and also had roles in feature films such as “Ingrid Goes West,” “The To Do List,” “Black Bear,” and “Happiest Season.”
The role of Olga is her latest series regular role and will also be her next production project. Gonzalez writes the pilot, and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will direct and executive produce.
