‘Away I Go,’ A Poem by Sawhney

I will sail with the winds!

I boldly declare

As they come to take me

here and there

they move me

away

Why does my head feel sad

While my heart glows

with the possibilities to come?

Away

Away

Away I go

I cry out, grieving

for the experiences I won’t have

I give joy to my curiosity

that rises

on the high winds

I feel a loss

and I feel out of control

I was never in control, to begin with,

I remember.

So, I must move on

and usher in a new life

Away, I go

Away

Away

On the winds

I searched for throughout this life.
