Happy Tuesday, dear readers!

We start this short week rested and glad to have spent a long weekend with our family.

Although our 4th of July celebrations were suspended because of everything going on in the country — and because our pets suffer a lot with the fireworks —we started the week in high spirits and with recharged batteries.

Here we bring you the most important news to start your week.

In the months following the 2020 US presidential election, rightwing TV news in America was a wild west, an apparently lawless free-for-all where conspiracy theories about voting machines, ballot-stuffed suitcases, and dead Venezuelan leaders were repeated to viewers around the clock.

There seemed to be little consequence for peddling the most outrageous ideas on primetime.

But now, unfortunately for Fox News, One America News Network (OAN), and Newsmax, it turns out that this brave, new world wasn’t free from legal jurisdiction – with the three networks now facing billion-dollar lawsuits as a result of their baseless accusations.

From targeted killings of doctors to vandalism of clinics and intimidation of staff, the danger is a reality of life for abortion providers in the US. With states now empowered to ban the procedure after the supreme court overturned federal abortion rights, reproductive health experts fear a new wave of violence.

Ariana DeBose slams the US Supreme Court and encourages voters to “get involved”

West Side Story star Ariana DeBose slammed the US Supreme Court in a new interview.

“You know, we can talk a lot about how the Supreme Court has just waged war on women’s reproductive rights, but the reality is Clarence Thomas was very clear on what his plan is,” the Tony winner said.

“He’s not just coming for women. They already came for voting rights, they’re going to continue. But they’re coming for marriage equality.”

Ricky Martin Faces Restraining Order in Puerto Rico

A judge has issued a restraining order against Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin, police said Saturday.

The order was signed Friday, and authorities visited an upscale neighborhood in the north coastal town of Dorado where the singer lives to try to serve the order, police spokesman Axel Valencia told the Associated Press.

“Up until now, police haven’t been able to find him,” Valencia said.

In a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, Martin’s representatives said they are confident the star’s name will be cleared. “The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,” the message read. “We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
