Search for Missing Young Woman in Mexico Results in the Finding of Many More Women Reported Missing

After 13 days of search and investigation, the body of Debanhi Escobar was found last Thursday, April 21, inside a cistern in Nuevo León. However, Debanhi Escobar was not the only victim found. During the days when Nuevo Leon authorities conducted investigations, they located seven women reported missing. As explained by El Heraldo de México, five of them were found lifeless.

DoorDash Launches Bilingual Multi-Platform to Reach Latinx Communities

In an effort to authentically connect with the Latinx community, delivery brand DoorDash launched its first-ever Spanish & English multi-platform marketing campaign titled “Antojo.” The creative campaign is based on the idea that cravings are a common experience across all cultures, but “antojos”—which translates to “strong feelings” or “cravings” in Spanish—is a part of the way Latinx people live life.

Sofia Vergara and Thalia Invest in New Platform for Latino Influencers

Sofia Vergara and Thalia are some of Influur’s most important investors, HOLA reported. The app, which facilitates the relationship between advertising and social media influencers, was developed by four Latinas and has amassed recognition and support in a short time. The company announced its new partners last week, and they also informed their followers that they’d pooled $5 million to expand their reach in Latin America and the U.S.

ELOQUII Launches Exclusive Collection With Afro-Latina Designer Melissa Mercedes

ELOQUII has previewed some of the pieces that will make up its summer collection. Among its collaborators is emerging Afro-Latina designer Melissa Mercedes. Self-taught and passionate about creating a more inclusive fashion world, Mercedes has dressed celebrities like Laverne Cox, Lauren Ash, and Nina Parker. Her new ELOQUII collection will be the brand’s first designer clothing collection to offer sizes 30 and 32.

Spotify Highlights Philly Podcast ‘Draws in Spanish’

Chilean-American Fabiola Lara’s podcast seems destined to conquer Spotify. “Draws in Spanish” won the $2,500 grant, and an episode featuring Cuban-Bahamian artist Reyna Noriega was named one of the week’s best episodes on the platform.

Supreme Court gives Congress the green light to deny federal disability benefits to Puerto Rico residents

The Supreme Court said last week that Congress is not required to extend federal disability benefits to residents of Puerto Rico, finding that denying the payments, which by law are available only to residents of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, does not violate the Constitution.

Motherland Festival pays tribute to urban music on a weekend full of talent

The Motherland Festival took place in Carolina, Puerto Rico, over the weekend in a fun and well-organized atmosphere, according to local media reports. The two-day festival celebrated international reggaeton talent. While the music genre was born in Panama, it has strong roots in the Isla Verde resort town of Carolina, sometimes considered the birthplace of the musical style as we know it today — hence the name of the festival. Urban music exponents such as Tego Calderón, Zion & Lennox, Casper Mágico, and VF7 got the audience dancing.
