Los Lobos concert raises money for Riverside’s Chicano Art Museum

Los Lobos performed at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium on Saturday night, May 7, as they raised money to support a Chicano art museum opening next month in downtown Riverside. The concert was to benefit the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, which will open on June 18 in the remodeled 61,420-square-foot building that once housed the city’s main public library.

ABC cancels ‘Promised Land’ series

ABC Signature Studios’ series “Promised Land” has been canceled and will not return for a sequel. No exact reason for the cancellation has been given, but seeing as the series was moved to Hulu after five episodes aired on ABC, it appears that the series did not attract enough viewers to warrant a second season.

Jill Biden meets with Ukrainian refugee mothers in Romania

U.S. First Lady Jill Biden and her Romanian counterpart, Carmen Iohannis, met with Ukrainian refugee mothers and their children during a visit to a Bucharest school on Saturday. “Today in Bucharest, First Lady Carmen Iohannis and I visited Scoala Gimnaziala Uruguay, a Romanian school that has opened its classrooms to Ukrainian refugee students,” she wrote on Twitter. Jill Biden praised the attitude of the Ukrainian refugee mothers and the teachers who started teaching in Bucharest and other Romanian cities after fleeing the Russian invasion, Romanian news agency Agerpres reported.

Bad Bunny tops Spotify records as the most played album in 2022 and the most played artist worldwide in a day

Bad Bunny’s new album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” is already making waves on streaming services. On its first day of release, Friday (May 6), the Puerto Rican star broke two records, Spotify announced. Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti” became the most played album in 2022 to date. The artist also became the artist with the most streams globally in one day, with 183 million streams. Previously, Drake held this record, with 176.8 million streams.

On Friday, all 23 songs from Bad Bunny’s new album made the top 30 on Spotify’s global chart, with nine of them in the top 10.

Lack of oversight, shrinking budgets, and illegally granted permits by the government have led to an increase in construction in protected areas and regions, some of which are prone to flooding or landslides.

The ongoing investigation into illegally built homes in Puerto Rico’s second-largest estuary, where authorities say more than 3,600 mangrove trees were cut down, has led to public hearings, the launch of a criminal investigation by the Puerto Rico Department of Justice, and scrutiny of similar cases. Environmentalists warn that these cases leave the U.S. territory even more vulnerable to climate change amid wetter and more intense hurricane seasons.
