Black History Beyond One Month: Celebrate Emerging Black Talent By Displaying Their Work All Year Long

BELatina is ending Black History Month with a rolled-out red carpet.

But that’s the thing, we aren’t ending it. With everything going on about the history around the Black community and its contribution to the United States, it is important we keep the conversation going. Now more than ever.

The celebration of Black culture is forevermore.

That celebration can take place anywhere and anytime. At BELatina, for instance, we are constantly shining a light on Black and Afro-Latine historical figures as well as the history makers of tomorrow. To elevate this conversation further, we believe in uplifting those around us too.

For this Black History celebration, we are highlighting two talented, emerging artists, Jackson Sauder and Julian Murray, who used their artistic skills to translate the emotion around Black empowerment.

Originally from South Florida, Sauder is a designer that was raised around multiple voices, including voices that are depicted in his artwork.

“It’s essential to listen to all sides,” Sauder told BELatina News.

“Unfortunately, it’s hard to find people willing to do so within media and outside of it. So, I felt compelled to sample the information around me and bring this to life – to express this idea of being able to listen effectively.”

When Murray was asked about his artwork, he explained that this was an image of great importance to him.

Murray also told BELatina News how the person depicted in the image is lifting the Black Power first and carried inside him are the faces and forms of his people.

“Their support, love, and strength follow him wherever he goes,” he continued. “We must fight our fight together, lifting every voice as one!”

Each artwork is aptly named. One is titled “Lift Every Voice,” and the second one is titled “Listen.”

“Listening takes patience, and love is patient – the ability to do both leads to unity,” Sauder said when asked to describe his artwork, “Listen.”

This art speaks. Make sure you pay attention to what it is saying.

Here’s to a never-ending celebration of Black History! Remember, never forget to support Black talent around you.
