Peso Pluma, one of the hottest artists in Latin music at the moment, recently sat down with internet personality Bobbi Althoff for an episode of her podcast, The Really Good Podcast. Known for her deadpan humor and knack for making guests feel slightly uncomfortable, Althoff brought her unique interviewing style to the forefront in this lively exchange. This interview, which revealed a more personal side of the artist, has amassed over half a million views.

For those unfamiliar, Peso Pluma has made waves in the music industry by catapulting the regional Mexican sound to the top of the pop charts, even surpassing global superstars like Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift in YouTube views. Meanwhile, Althoff, who began her influencer journey in 2021 by sharing her experiences as a mother on TikTok, has become a prominent figure in podcasting. In 2023, she launched The Really Good Podcast; it has quickly become a go-to platform for candid celebrity interviews.

Behind the Conversation Between Peso Pluma and Bobbi Althoff

The interview kicked off with Peso Pluma casually introducing himself and mentioning that he was in Houston for the fourth date of his Exodus tour, set to perform at the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets. The conversation quickly took a humorous turn when Althoff commented on the presence of “fireworkers” at the show, leading to a playful exchange about the correct term, “pyrotechnics.” Pluma cheekily remarked, “I like fireworkers better.”

As the conversation flowed, Althoff and Pluma discussed everything from his haircut —recently featured on Jimmy Fallon — to his band’s dance rehearsals. Pluma, known for his distinctive style, shared that he had recently changed his hairstyle, a move he wasn’t particularly fond of but that others seemed to appreciate.

A light-hearted moment arose when Althoff asked, “What does Peso mean? It’s like money, right?” To which Pluma clarified, “It’s not just money; it’s weight. And Pluma means feather. So, it’s like featherweight.” The name, he explained, originated because he and his friends were all skinny when they started their music journey. Although he’s still slim, he admitted he’s no longer as skinny as before.

The conversation took a more personal turn when Althoff inquired about Pluma’s relationship status. When he confirmed he had a girlfriend, Althoff, drawing on her own experience as a mother, advised him to wait until marriage before having children. This prompted a discussion about family, with Pluma revealing that his mother, who often attends his shows, would likely take care of his future children.

What Else Was Discussed?

As the interview neared its conclusion, Althoff inquired about Pluma’s musical journey, from playing guitar on YouTube to becoming a pivotal figure in making corridos mainsteam. Pluma shared that his passion for music began in high school, where he realized he preferred music over sports. He started by learning the guitar and eventually discovered his ability to sing and write songs, which he now channels into his music, focusing on love, Mexican culture, and the streets of his hometown, Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Throughout the interview, Pluma remained relaxed and playful, showing a side of himself that fans rarely get to see. Whether discussing his fashion choices or his love for tequila, Pluma’s charm was evident.
