The Full Moon in Gemini is entering the skies on Saturday, December 18th at 11:35 P.M. ET/ 8:35 P.M. PT, promising us some lightness and humor. It will give us ease as we review the past year and prepare to close out 2021 with the holiday festivities!

Jupiter lends powerful optimism and, if we do the work of reviewing, reflecting, and planning before the year-end champagne toast, the blessing of manifesting a dream in 2022 is possible!

This last full moon of the year is named the Cold Moon by the Mohawk, or the Long Night Moon, because it comes during the darkest and coldest times of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Thankfully, it arrives a few days before the longest night of the year, the Winter Solstice, and from then on, the days begin to slowly get longer. The birth of a new season around us and within us is quickly approaching, and this logical moon can help us get there with greater claridad!

Delving into emotions and introspection

This communicative Full Moon (known for emotions) in Gemini (known as the messenger) asks us to tap into logic, understand our feelings and access our intuition. We are supported to communicate more clearly with ourselves so, in turn, we can effectively communicate with the world.

With the Sun in Sagittarius (the philosopher), we are driven to accumulate information and push boundaries into more global awareness. It is not enough to read or feed on information from the outside; we must seek understanding within us, so it becomes wisdom and not just knowledge — this is the dance of Gemini and Sagittarius.

Full Moons occur when the Sun (known for character/identity) is exactly opposite the moon (known for emotions/intuition) and appears as the fullest point of the moon’s phases from the earth’s perspective. The full moon is always an opportunity to gain closure on projects or situations that began six months or two weeks before the new moon.

As a portal for integration, it’s also a point of breakthrough, breakdowns, and organic closure. Both personal and collective narratives, situations, and truths usually arise to be understood and processed during this time. Still, facing big emotions is always challenging especially when we are coming out of the eclipse season!

The fiery Solar eclipse in Sagittarius on December 4th may have had you blurting out uncensored truths. So, this full moon in the sign of the light-hearted twins, Gemini (known for communication), invites integration with a more celebratory flare than other moons that often amp up dramatic culminations.

This full moon invites us to ignite our curiosity and ask, “what else is possible?”

This is a perfect time for all signs to enjoy themselves, see the brighter sides of every issue, and follow signs and divine communications that the Universe is placing on your path! This is also a powerful moon to process heavier emotions because it empowers us to release through communication, conversations, and deep intuitive guidance from within!

You can do it while at a party with friends, an online workshop, or even reflecting through a podcast. All manners and modes of communication and social connection bode well; just make sure you don’t lose yourself in the hype or the flirtation. Play and remain grounded in where you are now and what your real goals are.

Understanding the influence of Gemini is key

If you are a sun Gemini or have Gemini placements, know that this is a powerful setup for your greatest leap into whatever is next for you!

Take the time to analyze and explore what worked for you this year and release what no longer serves. This is not the time to hold on to an ex or any old clothing that you’ve kept “just in case” you may need them someday.

Let go of what clearly didn’t make the cut into your everyday life or into your most desired future. When we release the excess, we make room for the new. Be patient with the in-between stages of leaving what once was when you’re not yet experiencing what is about to arrive. Making peace with the discomfort of the unknown is part of deepening our spiritual gifts of intuition, faith, and courage.

A harmonious trine to jolly Jupiter (known for expansion) supports la buena vibra of this full moon! Jupiter magnifies and expands whatever it highlights. In the air sign of Aquarius (known for humanitarian qualities), it supports group projects, end-of-year festivities, and coming together for a greater good!

If you are looking to volunteer for a humanitarian organization or apply for a job that involves sustainable practices and teamwork, know that it’s the aligned place for you to be — especially if you have major planets in an air sign!

Gratitude is also in the air — literally! Make sure to let folks who have made a difference in your life know how much they mean to you. If possible, create your own gratitude list! You may be surprised at what you’ve survived and thrived through in the last year.

This full moon does bring its challenges in the form of a quincunx, a non-harmonious angle between Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and finances, which is currently in the earth-sign of Capricorn (known for boss/ambition). At this moment, it’s important to communicate as tensions bring unresolved relationship issues to the surface.

Venus is in the industrious sign of Capricorn that is able to step up and do the work that needs to be done. It may be time to plan for solo or couples therapy in 2022!

Communicating More Clearly with Ourselves

Set some time aside with your journal and a candle. As you light it, imagine that you are lighting the clarity, truth, and joy that is possible for you now! Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and invoke a prayer, or simply ask your deepest knowing, well ancestors, and Angels to support your clarity process on this full moon.

  • What beliefs, stories, and goals guided my life in 2021? Take time to write it out.
  • Are they stories of lack? Stories of having to work very hard to attain your dreams or that there are not any good people left out there to date or love?
  •  What are the new stories you are envisioning for 2022? Do you have a song or playlist that invokes this new story?
  • Is there a message within you that you want to share with friends, family, or the world? What is keeping you from sharing freely with others?
  • How can you release any fears or insecurities that have been holding you back in 2021? How can you begin to add your voice and perspective to the conversations that are going on both in the personal realm and the collective?
  • Close your eyes and breathe deeply, asking your inner knowing,” what do I most need to get clear on how to release 2021 and manifest in 2022?
  • Repeat out loud or write out several times: I am ready to release what no longer serves and make way for the new. I am ready and willing to embrace the discomfort that comes with the new and fill it with the curiosity of what is possible for me in 2022. ¡Así sera! And so it is!

Take a moment to appreciate your wins, the energy that came up to be healed for you this year, and know that healing is a process. Allow yourself your feelings as they come up, and keep circling back to gratitude. In the face of so much global turmoil, we are still standing, and as we evolve our own personal healing paths, we are quietly adding to the wave of collective transformation.

The old adage goes, “each one teaches one,” and I’d like to add, “each one heal one.” When we take the time to value our own healing and understand that we are worthy of our wildest dreams, we are less likely to impinge on others’ rights and are more likely to have the fuel to create the social justice that this world sorely needs.

Get your reflection on and celebrate it all!

The New Year rolls in with a New Moon holding the reflection of your vast and beautiful potential, so continue to look at the stars as they illuminate the expanse of your inner Universe!
