Sound Advice: Get to Know Musical Duo ‘Ceraadi’

At some point in the last few years, you may have passed a vibrating car driving by with a bunch of fly girls blasting what seemed like the same girl act R&B and hip hop music you listened to back in the 90s. We’re here to tell you that is was probably Ceraadi, with their musical air of Salt-N-Pepa and TLC attitude fused with moments of innocent Janet Jackson-esque vocals that you heard. A true blood sister act that features Saiyr and Emaza is on the rise with an old sound that’s been revived as a sweet and spicy new genre they coined as Hood Pop.

If it was their club-banging bounce track “Sway,” your heard, it certainly energized your world view momentarily with its mesh of heavy bass and Ceraadi’s ferocious track sampling. If you’re a bad chick let me hear you say…little bootie, big bootie don’t care…You got your own car or own you crib, he said he coming, but you leave him on redSway wit´ it. Sway wit it. Then it’s all about the visuals with their jerkin and energetic dance moves and throwback fashion style with baggy pants, bright colored patterned jackets, long nails and big ass hoop earrings.

These sister beauties of Filipino, Irish, and African American descent were born in Iowa and eventually moved to Los Angeles where they got their big break on the reality show Christina Milian Turned Up in 2015. Back then they were a breakthrough trio that included their other sister Znui with their early hit song “We in Here.” But artistic differences got in the way so that the sisterly musical bond, for now, features Saiyr’s tenacious wordplay harmonizing with Emaza’s soulful belts.

“We feed off each other,” Emaza told Spotify. We have two different personalities, but we link up on the same wavelength. Saiyr is a little edgier, while you might say I’m more girly.” In their latest venture, they’ve teamed up with Roc Nation and Island Records for their recent single “Loyal,” a less frenetic song that disses on boys who date more than one girl at a time without being honest about it. ‘If you were loyal to me I´ll be loyal to you’ they sing earnestly. Refreshing to hear in the age of friends with benefits.

Don’t let their sweetness fool you. These girls can get down giving some major old school vibes, but without anything explicit or revealing about it, just sexy, sweet and soulful. And now you know their name, just in time for those summer backyard jams.
