Ivy Queen, the undisputed “Queen of Reggaeton,” is set to make a landmark debut at New York’s iconic Carnegie Hall on November 20, an announcement that resonates as a milestone for both Latin music and reggaeton’s evolution. With a career that has challenged conventions and championed empowerment, Ivy Queen will take the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage as part of Carnegie Hall’s Nuestros Sonidos, a season-long festival celebrating Latin culture in the United States.

Ivy Queen Will Grace the Stage at Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall’s endorsement of Ivy Queen’s pioneering influence speaks volumes: her career has not only carved a place for women in Latin urban music but has also expanded into genres like salsa, bachata, and hip hop. Carnegie Hall highlighted her stature as a 2023 Billboard Women in Music Icon and recognized her for hits like “Quiero Bailar,” a song that continues to reverberate across generations and push the boundaries of Latin music worldwide.

This one-night-only concert marks a historic moment as Ivy Queen becomes the first reggaeton artist to headline a show at Carnegie Hall. Her performance joins an array of Nuestros Sonidos events designed to reflect the trajectory of Latin music in the U.S. from the 1930s to today, with a focus on Caribbean contributions and genres that have evolved on American soil, from salsa and bachata to Latin jazz and reggaeton.

Beyond the stage, Ivy Queen’s influence has gained new layers of visibility in mainstream culture. She recently appeared alongside Karol G and Bad Bunny in the Peacock docuseries Reggaeton: The Sound That Conquered the World, which debuted in October 2024. The series traces reggaeton’s roots in Puerto Rico and its journey to becoming a global powerhouse, cementing Ivy Queen’s role as one of the genre’s foundational voices.

As you can see, Ivy Queen continues to be La Potra, La Cabollota, and overall, La Reina. She deserves this recognition and so much more.
