Javier Milei, Argentina’s president, came to the defense of Elon Musk after the businessman was accused of making a seemingly controversial behavior during a speech on Monday. He dismissed the controversy as baseless and called the gesture “innocent.”

What Javier Milei Says

Before departing for Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum, Milei made his stance clear in a message on social media. “Nazi my —,” he wrote. “Elon Musk must be one of the most important men in history […] and has always defended freedom in its purest form, for everyone,” Milei stated.

He went further, praising Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform X as “one of his greatest contributions to humanity.” In Milei’s view, the platform formerly known as Twitter had been programmed to silence any speech that did not conform to the “hegemonic woke narrative.” He accused the international left of seizing upon Musk’s gesture as an excuse to brand him a Nazi, arguing that the true reason behind the outrage was Musk’s fight against what he described as the “hegemonic control of global wokism.”

People Are Starting to React

Unsurprisingly, Milei’s remarks have created a lot of discourse. While his supporters see him as a champion of free speech and anti-establishment politics, critics view his rhetoric as a dangerous escalation with authoritarian overtones.

Milei and Musk have been friendly for some time, so this response makes sense. Who knows, maybe they’re even harboring a bromance behind the scenes.
