Get your snaps ready: Jenna Ortega’s “Wednesday” just made history. The Tim Burton-directed series topped last week’s Netflix’s Top 10 TV chart – and broke a record while at it.
Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!

‘Wednesday’ set a new record
Burton’s comedy-horror garnered a skyrocketing 341.23 million hours and reached 50 million households in its first week (November 21). According to Netflix, it set a new record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language show. It also reached No. 1 in 83 countries.
“Wednesday is out. Thank you to everyone involved/everyone who was supportive throughout the process. I hope the show is an easy, entertaining watch if you’re up for it,” Ortega wrote in a Twitter post. Y pues si, apparently more than 50 million homes tuned in during the holiday week! Bravo!
We don’t know about you, but we surely watched the binge-able series.
Spoiler alert: for those who have yet to watch it, there may be spoilers ahead.
What ‘Wednesday’ means to the Latine community
Ortega put our Latine alternative community in front of pop culture – and we can’t thank her enough. It’s long overdue, TBH. Not only did the show tackle problems like awkward mother-and-daughter relationships, but it also taught us to trust our gut.
Don’t worry, we’re not going to spoil it all for you – but Wednesday knew something was off with many of those characters. Problem was that she wasn’t completely in sync with herself and that fogged up her instincts. ¡Suele pasar!
Another theme that the sarcastic-yet-hilarious show tapped into was the power of friendship. Wednesday’s roommate, Enid Sinclair, played the perfect (and polar opposite) part for Ortega. “When they get together, there’s something really relatable and beautiful about it. Those are always my favorite dynamics, and I think it came very naturally,” Ortega said in a recent interview.
Overall, Ortega’s performance is a must-watch! We recommend it.
