Not known to chicken out of anything, Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Fallon joined forces to teach kids words in the Spanish language. Jennifer Lopez Co-Authors Her First Children’s Book, ‘Con Pollo,’ Alongside Jimmy Fallon

Lopez, 52, and Fallon, 47, are long-time friends who have been supporters of one another for years. The “Hustler” director has appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Show various times throughout her successful career.

Now, they’ve teamed up as co-authors for their inaugural bilingual children’s book, Con Pollo: A Bilingual Playtime Adventure. And it was released yesterday!

How ‘Con Pollo’ Came About

The duo told PEOPLE how they’ve always wanted to work on something together. They fiddled with different ideas until it dawned on them that a children’s book was the best route.

Illustrated by a Latina, Andrea Campos, and published by Feiwel & Friends, the book equips children with basic Spanish vocabulary by helping a cute chicken named Pollo.

Con Pollo shares Spanish terms for what Pollo is doing on pages opposite of the descriptions in English. The book also includes an index of terms with phonetics and color coding.

This is the “Monster-in-Law” protagonist’s first children’s book. The late-night host, Fallon, has written four best-selling children’s books: Your Baby’s First Words Will Be Dada, Everything Is Mama, This Is Baby, and Five More Sleeps ‘Til Christmas. He has a fifth one on the way; Nana Loves You More, which is set to be released soon. The multi-hyphenated Nuyorican has, however, written a best-selling memoir, True Love. So, she has experience in the book writing process as well.

Both celebrities are excited about the release of Con Pollo and how it can help further bilingual education for children.

“It’s fun and educational and my Spanish teachers from high school would be so impressed to know that I’m teaching kids to speak Spanish with Jennifer Lopez,” Fallon said in a press statement.
