Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello’s high-profile split remains a hot topic. Recently, Vergara attributed their breakup to differing desires about having children, stating that Manganiello wanted kids while she didn’t. However, Manganiello has now countered these claims, asserting that the real reason for their separation had nothing to do with an ultimatum over starting a family.

What Joe Manganiello Said About His Split from Colombian Star Sofía Vergara

In an interview with Men’s Journal, the “Magic Mike” star set the record straight: “There’s been a lot said in the press about my desire to have a family. That’s simply not true,” Manganiello clarified. He continued, “We tried to have a family during the first year and a half. During the first month we were dating, I told her, ‘If you don’t want to have kids, I’ll understand. Just tell me, and it’s no problem.’ But that wasn’t the case with her. I promised her I would never leave if it didn’t work out, and I didn’t.”

Manganiello opened up about the real reason behind their divorce: “It was because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens. To be painted as if I had some sort of mid-life crisis and gave her an ultimatum after nine years is just wrong. I never did that.”

Earlier this year, Vergara gave an interview to El País where she spoke about the split, attributing it to Manganiello’s desire for children. “I’m a newly divorced woman. My marriage broke down because my husband was younger, wanted kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair for the baby,” the 52-year-old actress explained.

Vergara, known for her role on “Modern Family,” also reflected on motherhood: “That’s not for me anymore. I had a child at 19 and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother,” she said, referring to her 32-year-old son, Manolo González-Ripoll Vergara.

It’s Complicated?

After seven years of marriage, the couple announced their separation with a joint statement: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people who love and care for each other very much, we kindly ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

In a relationship, only the people involved know what happened. May their truth prevail among one another.
