On September 20, 2024, an ambitious educational initiative kicks off for Central American and Caribbean women. The Fundación Con Cora, founded by Karol G, has partnered with Geek Girls LatAm to launch the “Becas Con Cora Geek Girls LatAm” program.

This opportunity is open to women aged 18-35 from El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic. It offers virtual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) training, with an emphasis on equipping women for leadership in technology.

About the ‘Becas Con Cora Geek Girls LatAm’ Program

Selected participants will engage in a six-month comprehensive program, including masterclasses, group mentoring, and Coursera courses focusing on leadership, female empowerment, and the critical digital skills needed for tomorrow’s workforce. The curriculum extends beyond technical training and delves into personal development, emotional intelligence, and social impact.

Applications are open until September 3, 2024. Pre-selected candidates will be notified by email between September 10 and 11. For women in these countries, this is a rare opportunity to shape their futures in industries often dominated by men. Demonstrating strong motivation and commitment throughout the course will be crucial to receiving certification by February 2025.

“The education and continuous training are fundamental pillars for social change,” a representative of Geek Girls LatAm said as reported by Infobae. With these scholarships, women can significantly improve their socioeconomic standing by gaining skills in 4.0 technologies and other in-demand digital tools. This initiative not only helps bridge the gender gap in STEAM fields but also fosters the kind of personal growth necessary to succeed in these environments.

The program is structured to create long-term change, offering practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship while encouraging lifelong learning. How amazing is this?

Do you have any family members or loved ones in the Caribbean or Central America who may benefit from this program? If so, please make sure they apply before the deadline!
