If you’ve been hoping for an app that provides a steady stream of all your favorite Latin music — you’re in luck. Univision has recently partnered with Napster (the controversial illegal music site from the late-90s) to add more options to their revamped Uforia app.

The music service was initially launched back in 2013 with a focus on Latin curated content. While Univision hasn’t maintained a good track record of coordinating its efforts across TV, local radio and online in the past, this new partnership with Rhapsody-owned Napster promises to give its hispanic-listeners a wider array of options. As of last month, Univision stated that Uforia currently has 2.2 million digital audio listeners per month.

“Audio is bigger and more exciting than ever, and we’re thrilled to partner with Napster to jointly explore and redefine how audio content will be consumed in the future,” Jesus Lara, President of Univision Radio said in a news release. “Univision works hard to authentically super-serve all Hispanic listeners with the best music and audio programming and this partnership will enable us to deliver our audience an even better and more personalized experience.” Here’s a look inside the music platform:

Up until now, mainstream music services have lumped Latin musical tastes together. As Lara told Variety “the Hispanic marketplace is a complex one, with Cuban-Americans preferring different tunes than music fans with a Mexican or Guatemalan heritage.” This new partnership hopes to fill in the nuances between Latin communities.

3 Specially Curated Playlist & All the Latin Music Your Heart Desires

Celebrate holidays or events with context. For the recent International Women’s Day, for example, Uforia curators provided playlists of women-only Mariachi bands and of female Reggaeton artists (just imagine the New Years playlist!).

Can’t decide between Latin pop or reggaeton? Uforia gives you access to hundreds of playlists (a mind-boggling 40 million songs to be exact). You’ll also be able to listen to live streams of Univision’s 58 local radio stations and podcast service in Spring 2019.

4 Free for All Music Streaming

Unlike Spotify or Apple Music, Uforia has no upsell to a paid plan (compared to Apple Music’s hard paywall). That means you won’t be prompted to pay for the app after downloading. “My audience is accustomed to and doesn’t mind the advertising for a free service,” said Lara.
