Latina to Latina, the brilliant podcast hosted by Alicia Menendez and executive produced by Juleyka Lantigua-Williams, is celebrating a pretty epic milestone this week: the podcast, which features interviews with today’s trailblazing hispanas, just hit one million lifetime downloads.
For anyone who has ever listened to this empowering podcast, it should come as no surprise that this show, now in its third year, has added such a monumental accomplishment to its resumé.
This podcast is changing the game for Latinas everywhere thanks to its powerhouse host, MSNBC anchor Alicia Menendez, and the inspiring leaders she interviews in each episode, bringing strong, determined, pioneering Latinas to the forefront one conversation at a time.
But it wasn’t always a guarantee that this podcast would achieve the levels of success we are witnessing today. When Menendez and Lantigua-Williams first pitched the idea of a podcast showcasing remarkable women and the many challenges they faced on the path to surviving and thriving as Latinas, the initial response was mixed. Some people called the idea “too niche,” but the millions of listeners are proving those haters wrong and showcasing the power of the community.
Our @latinatolatina podcast is celebrating 1 million lifetime downloads. Shout out to everyone who called the idea “too niche” and so much gratitude for our listeners who proved them all wrong. https://t.co/B1Sm5yjN1R

“Reaching one million downloads is a testament to the power of Latina podcast listeners. They made this possible,” Juleyka Lantigua-Williams told BELatina. “When we started out, we knew the numbers said not many Latinas were listening. But we also knew there weren’t enough show options for them, and we trusted our combined 35 years of media experience to launch something bold, intelligent, and heart-filled that would speak to this sophisticated audience.”
And it seems as if Menendez and Lantigua-Williams are just the right women to take on this immense challenge at just the right time.
Yes, they have the combined professional experience to build a show that speaks to Latinas in a unique, honest, relatable way. But they also have the drive to deliver what few had been able to do before: a space where Latinas could feel like they were seen, and they were powerful.
“We launched Latina to Latina as a podcast focused on Latinas’ professional journeys. As ambitious women ourselves, we wanted to give our listeners an inside look into industries that are often opaque by design and showcase guests who could really speak to what it takes to build a career in a space where you are often the first or the only,” Alicia Menendez told BELatina. “What we learned along the way was that these conversations created the space for us to talk about everything from infertility and intergenerational trauma to the power of Latina voters,” she shared.
To celebrate this incredible achievement and to honor their growing audience, the team announced 12 days of giveaways on their Instagram page, featuring Latina authors and Latina-owned brands including Rizos Curls, Reina Rebelde, Joanna Vargas Skin Care, Chillhouse, Jen Zeano Designs, Canticos, Bomba Curls, SalviSoul, and LOLI Beauty.
The 12 days of giveaways are their gift to their listeners — after all, “we couldn’t have reached this milestone without our listeners,” Menendez said. “They have been our compass on this journey. They let us know what they love and how we can better serve them. They may listen to our podcast, but we listen to them.” In addition, the podcast also unveiled a new look for the show: a stylized type-driven new design by graphic designer Livia Soong.
And they’re not stopping at 1 million.
What’s next for Latina to Latina?
“Besides speeding toward 2 million downloads? We are actively exploring new ways to expand into additional platforms, including video, live events, and developing original content so that we can continue to inform and inspire our growing audience,” Menendez shared. Their goals are constantly evolving, guided by what their audience needs. Everything they do is driven by their desire to serve their Latina community and provide quality content. “We are so grateful to our listeners. From the jump, they told us what they wanted, what they needed, and how we could best serve them. Every day we get emails and DMs from listeners letting us know that some piece of an episode made them feel seen and known. Those moments of connection are what motivate us to keep growing this community.”
