TikTok has officially launched a Spanish-language sounds page dedicated to Spanish-speaking users in the United States, offering a platform for Latinx artists.
As reported by Billboard, the library is available to all U.S. users who have the language setting of their mobile operating system or the TikTok app set to Spanish.
The page features playlists including TikTok Viral, Artists on the Rise, Latinx: Mujeres, Tropical, Latin Indie, Bachata, TikTok Baile, Regional Mexicano, Orgullo (LGBTQIA+), and more.
“Latinx music and culture are an integral part of the TikTok ecosystem. To demonstrate TikTok’s continued commitment to Latinx music, culture, artists, creators and, community, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Spanish Sounds Page dedicated to Spanish-speaking users in the US,” said the platform in an official statement.
The library was launched in conjunction with the Latin GRAMMYs and features playlists of all nominees in four categories (Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist).
The Latin GRAMMY® playlists will appear in the main section of the Sonidos en Español page alongside fifteen other all-time playlists dedicated to Latin music, from reggaeton and regional Mexican to indie and Latin pop.
Monsieur Periné, whose “Nuestra Canción” has gone viral on the app, said: “It has been incredible to see how millions of people around the world connected organically with ‘Nuestra Canción’ and our music. We have received a lot of love for each video, song, and experience that you share with us. The spontaneity of what happens on TikTok is as powerful as the real connection in a show – it crosses cultures, generations and connects with the hearts of the people who want to share.”
The launch coincides with the 22nd edition of the Latin Grammy Awards held on Thursday, November 18.
