At only 20 years old, Argentinean singer Nicki Nicole has taken over the urban scene in the south of the continent, and her crusade has led her to plant a flag in the United States.
Praised by international media for her ability to break stereotypes and challenge the macho culture of Argentine rap, Nicole became world-famous for her remix of Rochy RD’s “Ella No Es Tuya,” which went viral earlier this year and has over 400 million total streams.
Now, Nicki Nicole is nominated for “La Nueva Generación: Mejor Artista Femenina Revelación” at Premios Juventud. Her smash hit “Colocao” has been certified by the RIAA as Latin Gold in the U.S. and has 205 million streams.
But it was her performance on Jimmy Fallon last April that put her on the radar of the American mainstream.
The 20-year-old was the first Argentine artist to perform on the acclaimed TV show.
Building on the momentum, Nicole has released her new single “Me Has Dejado,” filmed in Madrid, and in collaboration with Spanish rapper Delaossa.
The official music video, directed by Guillermo Centenera, shows Nicki presenting the fallout of her on-screen relationship with the track’s collaborator Delaossa. The official video shows contrasting scenes of the two musicians with their friends, Nicki trapped in a sinking car and Delaossa in ruin.
“Dani is someone that I admire very much. I have been a big fan of his since before I started making music. It is incredible to have my idol become my friend,” Nicki shares. “We made this song two years ago, and my hope was to record it together in the studio, but due to the pandemic, we had to finish it separately. Luckily we were able to record the video together here in Spain. The great thing about this song is that it has my essence and his 100%.”
