The first time I saw We’Moon’s magical, woman-centered, God-art-inspired, body-centered planner, I was transported.

I was in New York’s East Village and had walked into a metaphysical store just to pick up this spiral-bound, colorful, feminist book containing the wisdom of the cycles of the seasons and the stars.

I had never seen anything like this book in 1992 and was overwhelmed by how its art and poems spoke to me. I felt seen. This datebook was and remains a profound invitation to envision the sacred as feminine and to witness and love its reflection in its informative pages.

We’Moon means “women, we of the moon.” This classic and ever-innovative feminist planner and calendar functions as a private and portable lunar and solar astrological oracle for taking sacred notes.

We’Moon was created as an expression of women’s empowerment through earth-based spirituality. It was founded in 1981 and has since been published annually in Oregon, USA, by Mother Tongue Ink (dba We’Moon Company). Its mission is to “help women make their daily lives sacred and align themselves with Earth and Moon rhythms.”

A guide and companion

Growing up in a South American spiritual home, I was raised with monthly egg cleansings, altars, candles, healings, and prayers. So when I left my family home, I realized that most people viewed our intuitive, organically spiritual, earth-based connections as taboo, mysterious, and normatively forbidden. Nevertheless, I continued my practices but always felt unsupported in the New Age fever of the 1990s until I found We’Moon.

We’Moon invited me to nurture and reclaim my true self, a woman connected to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the stars and flowing in her own personal cyclical journey while being part of the collective. With the We’Moon planner, I was able to create my new moon circles and full moon vision meetings and understand the best times to send out a resume, interview for a new position, start higher education, or ask out that cute guy. And yes, I learned how to prepare for and deal with mercury retrograde!

It was easier to be true to my inner knowing as I took notes in the appointment book and was inspired through poetry, art, and the eight sacred witch’s feasts based on the seasons of the Wheel of the Year. As a new student of astrology at the time, I enjoyed the moon phases, astrological information, and the writings of women from around the world that awakened us to social justice, radical self-love, and healing.

More than a calendar

The We’ Moon datebook is much more than a calendar or an appointment book; it is a sacred book with beautiful art and easy to understand without simplifying astrological guidance on lunar cycles and astrology. The spiral-bound datebook has 240 pages, is printed on recycled paper and soy-based ink, and is small enough to fit in a purse or wallet for travel.

Holding We’Moon 2022, Gaia Rhythms for Womyn: The Magical Dark, I feel transported once again.

Not only do I remember my beginnings as an astrological witch and empowered goddess, but I remember how supported I felt with so much astro knowledge in a handy calendar where I used to write my affirmations. The pages alternate between art, written content, and space to write each day. No matter what phase of your life you are in right now or in transition, the information in We’Moon is key to making the most of your time, effort, and goal setting.

I know you will enjoy this one-of-a-kind astrological calendar and planner because it is truly multi-sensory.

The visual and written content, which includes a yearly sign-by-sign reading, explanations of moon phases, transits, retrogrades, and how to use this book, is a daily inspirational reader that offers weekly insights and prompts further spiritual exploration.

If you are an advanced student of the stars, there is a planetary ephemeris in the back of the planner/calendar that includes asteroids and a daily visual lunar calendar where you can see exactly what phase the moon is in and plan accordingly.

No batteries or charger is needed, as this portable calendar/datebook and oracle is always ready to witness your journey and keep you aligned by guiding you with all the astrological information you need and more. Allow yourself the pleasure of gaining a deeper understanding of how to plan your daily life to make the most of each moon phase and astrological cycle.
