Latino star Pedro Pascal was the unexpected star of the show at the SAG Awards on Saturday, snagging the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his role in “The Last of Us.” This win came as a surprise, especially after previous awards seasons where he lost similar honors to “Succession” star Kieran Culkin.

Upon receiving the award, Pascal displayed his trademark charm and wit, humorously admitting, “This is wrong for a number of reasons,” and confessing, “I’m a lil drunk.” Despite his lighthearted demeanor, he expressed gratitude, thanking HBO for the opportunity and acknowledging the honor of the award.

Pascal even joked about his forgetfulness, saying, “To all the nominees, I can’t remember your names right now.” His speech, filled with warmth and humor, reflected his surprise and appreciation for the recognition.

Backstage, Pascal shared his disbelief at winning and admitted to not recalling his speech due to the shock. Reflecting on his ongoing banter with Culkin throughout awards season, Pascal teased a playful encounter at the after-party, suggesting, “I’m going to make out with Kieran.”

This victory marked Pascal’s first SAG Award. As he navigated the press, Pascal teased tidbits about the upcoming season of “The Last of Us,” revealing to Entertainment Weekly and other outlets that filming had commenced and expressed admiration for the cast and crew’s dedication.

The Chilean actor also hinted at potential surprises in the upcoming season of his highly popular show. Despite the anticipation, viewers may have to wait until 2025 for the release of the second season.

Anytime Pedro Pascal is out, there is something that makes him more endearing. He’s unproblematic, a social justice warrior, and, frankly, quite the looker.

He’s the Latino community’s papi chulo – and we are here for it. Are you?
