Shakira is definitely the woman of the year. She’s been breaking records left and right, getting so much love from her fanbase, and is showing the world what Latina power looks like.

Her winning-streak continues as it was announced by Billboard and Telemundo that she will be honored with the 2023 Woman of the Year Award at Billboard Mujeres Latinas en la Música. She will become the first-ever Latina to receive this award since the event was debuted this year. Hosted by La Caballota, Ivy Queen, and Jacqueline Bracamontes, the ceremony is expected to receive some of the biggest stars in Latin music, such as Ana Gabriel, Goyo, and Thalia.

“Shakira is the ultimate Woman In Music. Thanks to her, Latin women all over the world were empowered to write and perform deeply personal music. She created a movement all on her own, and continues to be more relevant than ever today, with grace, a deep tradition of giving back, and enormous talent. She is the definition of a Woman In Music,” said Leila Cobo, Billboard’s chief content officer for Latin/Español in an official press statement.
