“It makes me very sad, but also, as an artist, it motivates me to show that we deserve to be happy, respected, and represented,” she said.

Her father never imposed traditional ideas on her or her siblings, and their home reflected that freedom. “I played soccer, baseball, and rode motorcycles. I also did my brothers’ makeup. In our house, everything was possible,” she recalled.

This openness informed how she approached her musical evolution. Her debut leaned into English-language pop, most famously with the song Shower, which gained traction during her teenage years. Later, she pivoted toward the Latin urban scene with tracks like Mayores, embracing a more provocative tone that drew criticism, even though her male counterparts were doing the same.

“It was difficult but also fun, partly because I had that perspective to know that it’s not my fault what people are thinking,” she said. “I say what I say, and it’s not my responsibility because I’m not the mother of your children.”
