Carmen Carrera Puts Her Wardrobe Up For Auction to Support the LGBTQ Community

Some write songs, others give statements, and still others, like Carmen Carrera, make their clothes available to worthy causes. In a post on Instagram, the famous model and actress announced that she would put some items from her tours and television events up for auction on ebay to raise money for two organizations that help the LGBTQ community.

“If you aren’t able [to] participate in the auction, you can still help share this video to spread the word and get these items sold,” she wrote. Proceeds will benefit Presente and Casa Trans Lima Este, two organizations based in the Peruvian capital that have focused their efforts on raising funds for the vulnerable transgender community.

Carrera is well known for her participation in the third season of the reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race. , Today  today she is known for advocacy which challenges traditional notions of gender identity. Carrera is also known for activism to build awareness of the AIDS pandemic, and her coming-out as transgender on the ABC hidden camera program Primetime: What Would You Do? provided an additional platform to give a face to her community.
