Daddy Yankee, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, is embroiled in a legal battle against his estranged wife, Mireddys González Castellanos, and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, which has quickly become one of the most contentious cases in Latin music. At the heart of the dispute is a shocking allegation: the González sisters are accused of siphoning $100 million from Daddy Yankee’s companies, Los Cangris, Inc. and El Cartel Records, Inc., into their personal accounts. This legal clash has intensified, bringing both personal betrayal and corporate malfeasance into the public spotlight.

What Is Going on Between Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González

The first court session, scheduled for Friday at 9:00 a.m. in the San Juan District Court, will tackle the pressing issue of the $100 million transfer. Legal teams for both sides will present their cases, with the court focusing on the appropriateness of the remedies sought under civil procedure rules. A court order outlines the key issues, including whether the request for access to corporate records is justified and how the parties involved should conduct themselves during the proceedings.

“Lawyers and the parties must come prepared to address the following matters: 1. The appropriateness of the remedies requested through Rules 56 and 57 of Civil Procedure. 2. The reasonableness of the purpose of the request for information or access to corporate books,” the court order states.

At the center of the case lies an alleged betrayal far beyond a mere financial dispute. Daddy Yankee claims that under the pretext of a routine dividend payment, his estranged wife and sister-in-law transferred substantial amounts of money from his companies. Court documents suggest a deeper, more troubling motive. The artist also accuses González of contracting a third party to represent El Cartel in the sale of his music catalog, a deal struck at what he describes as an “unreasonable, disproportionate, and far below its true value.”

“Mireddys González Castellanos contracted a third party to represent El Cartel in the sale of the plaintiff’s musical catalog. The transaction was formalized at a price that was unreasonable, disproportionate, and far below its true value,” the complaint states.

In response, Daddy Yankee is seeking the return of control over his companies, an end to the González sisters’ involvement in their administration, and the immediate return of all related corporate documents. The lawsuit also seeks to hold the sisters accountable for legal fees and costs, indicating the artist’s intent to pursue full legal accountability.

The financial details are staggering. According to the lawsuit, $80 million was transferred from El Cartel Records, and $20 million from Los Cangris, into the personal accounts of the González sisters, all during the breakdown of Daddy Yankee’s marriage. What was once a personal crisis has now become a high-stakes legal matter that threatens to unravel both his business empire and his artistic legacy.

This legal battle casts a harsh light on the complex intersection of personal relationships and business in the Latin music industry. Daddy Yankee, whose career transformed reggaeton into a global force, is now fighting not only for his wealth but for the future of his brand and career.

Corporate law expert Carlos Díaz Olivo, representing Daddy Yankee, confirmed the details of the case, issuing a statement: “My client filed injunctions in the Tribunal de Primera Instancia in response to actions taken by Mrs. Mireddys González and her sister, Mrs. Ayeicha González. It was revealed that transfers totaling $100 million were made from the corporate accounts of El Cartel Records and Los Cangris into their personal accounts without my client’s knowledge or authorization.”

While Daddy Yankee has yet to make a public statement outside of his attorney’s remarks, the world watches closely. Unfortunately, the dispute not only threatens Daddy Yankee’s financial holdings but raises critical questions about the future of his music catalog, image, and career.

Let’s see how all of this unfolds.
