It seems that each year, Women’s History Month is observed in a more cohesive and empowering way. Although March 8 is often lost among flowers and unnecessary congratulations, some know exactly where to direct efforts.

That’s the case with EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics and who annually holds an event made by and for women, especially highlighting women in politics and entertainment.

This year, EMILY’s List announced that it will hold its annual event on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, prior to the 94th Academy Awards. The event will be themed “The Collective Power of Women,” highlighting the successes achieved when working together, lifting each other up, and creating better environments for all women.

This year’s speakers include Amber Tamblyn, Bozoma Saint John, Chiney Ogwumike, Gloria Calderon Kellett, U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass (CA-37), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Robin Thede, and Yvette Nicole Brown.

In addition, there will be a one-on-one conversation between author, actress, and EMILY’s List Creative Council member Amber Tamblyn and WNBA star, ESPN anchor, and activist Chiney Ogwumike.

“After the past few years of groundbreaking moments for women in politics, the work continues to fight for equitable pay, union standards, and representation,” said Yvette Nicole Brown, actress, writer, producer, host, and member of EMILY’s List’s Board of Directors, in a press release. “It is an honor to carry on that work with EMILY’s List and the dynamic women in politics and entertainment.”

Through this year’s Oscars event, EMILY’s List recognizes the efforts of women in these two industries who are working to change policy to boost representation and who are fighting for gender pay equity and ensuring that unions are prioritized.
