They say a mother is the most important person in your life — and that might be true. However, what people fail to include is how many forms a mother can come in.
Aside from the woman who gives birth to you, a mother figure can also be present in a tia, a prima, a sister, or even a friend. What matters is having had someone nurture and guide you when it was necessary.
Many people go through many phases with their moms, especially Latina moms. We may get on each other’s throat, chanclas fly around at some point, and then we grow up and realize that those señoras weren’t that bad after all.
And the powerful Latinas of our times let us know that their madrecitas also mean the world to them.
Thankfully, we have gotten a peek at the women behind some of the greatest inspirations of our time — their daughters.
From the mothers of Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez to Jennifer Lopez, there’s nothing better than to witness the purity of the love behind these mother-daughter moments.
