Maluma released his seventh studio album Loco x Volver in May 2026, a 14-song project that brought him back to the sounds of his childhood in Medellín, vallenato, salsa, merengue and hip-hop woven into the urban music that made him one of the most recognized figures in Latin pop. The album features collaborations with Kany García, Beéle, Ryan Castro, Arcángel and Grupo Frontera among others, and Maluma has described it as the most personal work of his career. Two singles reached number one on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart, and a world tour launches in 2027 with this album as its foundation.

That spirit of returning to origins was apparently exactly what Hot Wheels was looking for. On August 28th, 2026, Mattel announced that Maluma would join the first-ever Hot Wheels Legends Class as part of the brand’s global Challenge Accepted platform, alongside automotive content creator Supercar Blondie and Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski. Maluma participated directly in the design of a limited-edition Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 at 1:64 scale inspired by Loco x Volver and modeled after one of the most popular Land Cruiser lines in the Eje Cafetero region of Colombia, where the vehicle has long been used to navigate the mountains that define the landscape. The collaboration also includes a $100,000 donation from Hot Wheels to El Arte de los Sueños, the foundation Maluma created with his sister to support vulnerable youth through art programs.

A Colombian Mountain Vehicle Turned Into a Collectible for a Global Audience

The Global Legends Collection 2026 is the first of its kind in Hot Wheels history, comprising three limited-edition vehicles each designed in collaboration with one of the three Legends Class members. Maluma’s Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 sits alongside Supercar Blondie’s Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 “Lucy” and Lewandowski’s 1997 Porsche 911 GT1, all available for pre-order exclusively at MattelCreations.com at $25 each. Maluma described the collaboration as genuinely special, saying Hot Wheels has been part of his life since he was a child and that connecting his passion for cars with his own story through a collectible felt personal in a way that a standard brand partnership would not. The $100,000 donation will fund programs in singing, music production, dance and composition for young people in vulnerable situations, alongside psychological support for adolescents.

When the Earthquake Hit Chocó Maluma’s Foundation Was Already Moving

The Hot Wheels announcement came weeks after the August 10th earthquake that struck Colombia at a magnitude of 7.4. Maluma learned about it while training in Miami and his first call was to his father. His immediate family was safe, but the nanny of his daughter París and his soon-to-be-born child is originally from Chocó, one of the hardest-hit regions. When his team learned what her family had experienced, El Arte de los Sueños acted immediately, sending her niece Silvia in the first relief truck the foundation dispatched to ensure supplies reached people directly.

The foundation sent several additional trucks and Maluma opened three collection points in Medellín at the El Arte de los Sueños headquarters, his store Remanence and his restaurant Casa Eterna. He performed at Colombia: Voces por la Vida on August 23rd, a concert that raised over 11 billion pesos for earthquake victims, and shared donation links through his social media for contributions from outside Colombia. He said rebuilding will take time and made clear his commitment has no end date.

El Arte de los Sueños Was Already on the Ground Before Any Brand Deal Made It Newsworthy

The foundation that Hot Wheels is donating to as part of the Legends Class announcement is the same organization that dispatched the first relief truck to Chocó within days of the earthquake, and that detail says something about how Maluma operates. His willingness to describe exactly how the relief worked, who was in the truck and how the distribution was structured reflects an understanding that specificity is the difference between genuine accountability and performative generosity. He is heading into a world tour with an album about returning to his roots, a Hot Wheels car modeled after the mountains of his home region and a foundation that was already on the ground in Chocó before any camera was pointed at it. Colombia is where he comes from and it shows up in everything he does.
