Maluma is no stranger to using his platform for causes that matter to him. For the Colombian singer, born in Medellín and now 31 years old, fatherhood seems to have sharpened his attention to the well-being of children. Since March 2024, when he and architect Susana Gómez welcomed their daughter Paris, he has occasionally let that paternal instinct spill onto the stage. During his recent stop in Mexico City for his + Pretty + Dirty World Tour, that instinct came sharply into view when he stopped the music mid-performance to confront a fan in the crowd.

A Public Scolding in the Middle of the Show

The interruption began when Maluma noticed a woman holding a baby who, by her own admission, was only one year old. The child had no ear protection, and the sound levels, in the singer’s words, were “en la puta mierda” — meaning dangerously loud. The artist first asked the mother about the child’s age, then told her, “With all due respect, I am now a father. Do you think it is a good idea to bring a one-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are through the roof and the sound is extremely loud?”

As murmurs spread through the audience, he continued, “Do you know what you are doing here? Next time, protect their ears.” The crowd began to cheer in support, but Maluma pressed further. He criticized how the woman was holding the baby, saying, “It is an act of irresponsibility and you were shaking the baby as if it were a toy. That child does not want to be here, really. I tell you with all the affection and all the respect, since I am a dad. I would never have brought Paris to a concert.” Before returning to his set, he added, “Next time, be a little more conscious, okay?”

It’s Evident Maluma Loves Fatherhood

Maluma’s devotion to his daughter is no secret. On August 2, he posted a video on Instagram, where he has nearly 65 million followers, showing himself dancing with Paris to his song Bronceador. The clip quickly racked up over 750,000 likes. Back in March, he had shared the news of her birth with a message that read, “On March 9 at 8:23 a.m. the love of our lives, Paris Londoño Gómez, was born. Thank you to everyone for your congratulatory messages and your good wishes. Susana… Love: Thank you for fulfilling my greatest dream of becoming a father, I will never forget that moment. I love you both.”

Months earlier, in October 2023, he had revealed Gómez’s pregnancy through the release of his single Procura. The song was dedicated to her, and its music video included personal home footage of their relationship, ending with the couple in a doctor’s office watching the ultrasound of their future child.
