Selena’s “Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti” is taking us back to the 90s and we’re in love as ever.
It’s been nearly 3 decades since Latina music star Selena Quintanilla tragically passed away. Her music has always lived a life of its own. She had one of the most beautiful voices to ever sing on a stage and was a true inspiration to Latinos of all ages. Her family, the Quintanilla family, has been working on an album that will feature ten never before released songs by the iconic musician. There will also be three remixed versions of a few classics we all know and love.
On July 29, 2022, the song “Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti” was re-released in a style that has never been heard before. “Everything was recorded on vinyl. So we had to kind of fuse the old school ways with the new school ways. Clean Selena’s vocals, put them on timing. And then we also pitched her vocal down just a hair to make her sound a little bit more mature.” said Selena’s brother and music producer A.B. Quintanilla. In the re-released version of “Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti”, it is almost as if Selena recorded the lyrics at an older age than the original version you can find on all music streaming platforms.
In the upcoming album, the family has said that the majority of the songs were recorded when Selena was between the ages of 13 and 16 years old. Selena was one of the top-selling artists throughout the 1990s but the new generation today is discovering her music. When the Quintanilla family caught wind, they immediately started crafting this project for all of her new fans as well as lifelong fans.
It’s important to know this is not a cash grab for a posthumous album. The Quintanilla family has worked long and hard to honor Selena in a way that can further enhance her art and introduce her music to new fans around the world. The family also released a new music video for the song “Tú, Sólo, Tú.” It features never before seen footage of the Cumbia Queen, which should be a joy for all of her fans.
If you love Selena, be on the lookout for this album and tell us what you think!
