For Bad Bunny, the sky’s the limit — in this and all universes. Now, Benito will be joining the Marvel world by playing El Muerto, a Spider-Man character, in a standalone movie for Sony.

As reported by Deadline, Sony announced that it has set in motion the development of an El Muerto movie with the Evil Bunny. The news broke at Cinemacon during Sony’s panel, where Bad Bunny made a surprise appearance.

The character of El Muerto, also known as Juan Carlos, was a super-powered wrestler who originally faced Spider-Man in a charity match in which he nearly unmasked the wrestler before being stung by Spider-Man with a paralyzing poison. After his oppressor, El Dorado came to claim his life, he was saved by Spider-Man, after which the two teamed up to defeat Dorado.

And in terms of representation, this news is worthy of celebration.

El Muerto would be the first Latino superhero to have his own movie in the Marvel Universe of characters. It comes on the heels of Sony’s recently dated Madame Web, which marked the first female character in the Spider-Man universe to have her own movie.

As The Guardian explained, the 28-year-old Puerto Rican vocalist assured that bringing El Muerto to life “is just incredible.”

El Muerto will continue a burgeoning acting career for Bad Bunny, who also appears in the upcoming Japan-set thriller Bullet Train, starring Brad Pitt. In addition, Benito recently announced the title of his forthcoming album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” via a classified ad.

Will there be anything this artist won’t be able to do?
