Two Latinas are starring in one of  Amazon Prime’s productions.

Academy Award winner Ariana Debose is set to star in “House of Spoils,” a psychological drama about a chef, alongside “Euphoria’s” Barbie Ferreira.

The thriller will be produced by Amazon Studios and Blumhouse Television. Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, known for their work on Amazon’s “Blow the Man Down,”  will write and direct it.

‘House of Spoils’ is riddled with talent

The Afro-Latina actress, DeBose, is coming off a memorable award season. She’s won an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in West Side Story.

Barbie Ferreira was a fan favorite character in “Euphoria.” Not only was her character’s storyline engaging, but it was also nice to see a Latina have a role in one of the most popular shows at the moment.

In season two, however, fans noticed that Ferreira’s screen time shrunk. Reports stated she had creative conflicts with the show’s creators. To fans’ surprise, Ferreira recently announced her departure from “Euphoria” as she had made her peace with the character already.

Her talent continues to be coveted. Now, she forms part of the Latina duo starring in “House of Spoils.”

According to Hollywood Reporter, she plays a quick-witted sous chef, but not much else is yet known about her character.

Representation continues to matter

“House of Spoils” is about a determined chef who opens a restaurant in a remote state. Trouble ensues when she faces complications that make her feel pressured in all areas of her life. While trying to run her restaurant business, a powerful spirit threatens to sabotage her.

It’s exciting to see Latinas get access to more interesting roles in Hollywood. With all of the recent discussions about Latinas in superhero movies and other franchises, it’s refreshing to see proper representation in cinema.
