Fátima Bosch, Miss Universe 2025, is using her platform to question the very system that crowned her, speaking openly about the pressure to fit into beauty standards and the reality behind international pageants.

The 26-year-old Mexican model addressed the topic during the forum Mujeres que Transforman in El Salvador, where she offered a perspective that breaks from the usual script expected from titleholders.

A Crown With a Different Perspective

During a conversation with Isabella García Manzo, Miss El Salvador Universe 2023, Bosch was asked what advice she would give to young women considering beauty pageants. Her response was direct.

“I would not advise anyone to enter a beauty pageant, honestly. I am being sincere,” she said.

She explained that winning Miss Universe felt unexpected, describing it as something she never planned.

“The reality is that Miss Universe depends on the person who holds the crown and the purpose you give it. If you have an important project and you see this platform as a way to give it visibility, then go for it,” she said.

Start With Purpose

Bosch made it clear that she does not see pageants as a starting point. Her advice focused on building something meaningful before seeking visibility.

“I would tell girls to create projects that can have an impact first, and then enter a pageant or whatever space you believe is right, where you can be seen and heard,” she said.

Her message shifts the focus away from appearance and toward intention, placing value on the work behind the platform rather than the platform itself.

A System That Has Not Changed

She also spoke about the challenges she has faced since winning, describing an environment that still expects women to fit a specific mold.

“It has been very difficult since I won, because pageants are not used to a real woman, a woman who does not fit into the sizes they expect, a woman who has a voice,” she said.

She acknowledged moments of fear but made it clear that she does not plan to change who she is.

“It has scared me many times, but I do not care and I am still here, because I believe women are not made to fit into a mold,” she said.

Changing the Platform

Bosch framed participation in pageants as a choice that should come with intention. She encouraged women who do enter these spaces to do so with the goal of challenging expectations.

“If you want to enter a pageant to change that mold and show women and girls that they do not need to be perfect and that you have a project that will help people, then go ahead and make that change,” she said.

Her words make one point clear. The crown alone does not define impact, and the women who choose to use their voice inside these spaces are the ones who decide what those platforms become.
