Model Dagna Mata Aligns With Cazzu While Calling Out Unpaid Work In Nodal’s 'Un Vals' Video

Mexican model Dagna Mata has accused the production behind Christian Nodal’s music video “Un vals” of failing to pay her for work completed during filming in León, Spain, in February, pointing to a dispute over her contract and the role she ultimately appears to have performed.

Mata states that she was hired under a contract as a background performer, with expectations tied to brief screen appearances and a fee aligned with that position. After the video was released, she says she discovered that her role appears throughout the production in a central capacity, which differs from the conditions outlined in her original agreement.

A Contract That Does Not Match The Final Cut

The agreement signed by Mata identified her participation as secondary within the video. The released version presents her across most scenes, placing her at the center of the visual narrative in a way that contrasts with the role she accepted at the time of filming.

Mata says she did not receive prior notice about this change and was not presented with a revised contract that reflects her expanded presence. She maintains that the shift in visibility should have led to a new agreement, particularly in relation to her payment.

Payment Has Not Arrived

Mata says the payment was scheduled to be delivered within thirty days of filming. Ninety days have now passed, and she says the amount remains unpaid.

She also reports that she was asked to sign an agreement that would prevent her from discussing the situation publicly. According to Mata, this request came after she began seeking clarity on the status of her payment.

Speaking Out And Drawing A Line

Mata addressed the situation in an interview and later on TikTok, where she explained that her decision to speak comes from the need to be paid and to clarify the conditions under which she worked. She rejected claims that her actions reflect poorly on her, and instead pointed to the responsibility of those who fail to meet agreed terms.

She has also posted videos using songs by Cazzu in the background, which many viewers interpret as a response to the comparisons that emerged after the video’s release. Mata has acknowledged that those comparisons caught her off guard and has aligned herself in solidarity with Cazzu, distancing herself from the narrative that links her to Nodal or Ángela Aguilar.

Attention Around The Video Adds Another Layer

The release of “Un vals” brought attention to Mata’s presence in the video, with viewers drawing comparisons between her and other women connected to Nodal, which shifted the focus away from the production itself.

Mata has expressed discomfort with that reaction and has reiterated that her participation was tied to a professional opportunity, while her current position remains centered on receiving the payment tied to the work she performed.
