Shakira proved she can turn any night into a celebration as she rocked Times Square with an impromptu concert that drew a crowd of around 40,000 fans. Billboard reports that the announcement of the pop-up show on her social media accounts sent fans into a frenzy, with the stage doors swinging open to the sound of her iconic hit, “Hips Don’t Lie,” echoing through the bustling Manhattan streets.

Dressed to impress in black pants and a silver embellished top, the 47-year-old songstress treated her adoring audience to a medley of her greatest hits, including fan favorites like “TQM,” “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo,” “Te Felicito,” and “Puntería.” Closing out the electrifying performance with her smash hit, “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” Shakira expressed her gratitude to her Latin fans, saying, “I’m happy to be here surrounded by my Latin people. Thank you, New York! Until next time. I love you very much!”

The surprise concert served as a celebration of her latest album release, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (Women no longer cry), which hit streaming platforms just days before. It marks Shakira’s first LP release in seven years, marking a triumphant return to the music scene.

This spectacular performance comes hot on the heels of Shakira’s appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where the Colombian superstar shared the staggering success of her latest album. Jimmy Fallon couldn’t contain his excitement as he revealed that “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” had become the most-streamed album of 2024 within the first 24 hours of its release, certified seven times platinum already, and streamed over 10 billion times globally.

Shakira expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming reception to her new album, acknowledging her loyal fans who have supported her through thick and thin. Opening up about the creative process behind the album, Shakira shared that she poured her heart and soul into the music, channeling her pain and resilience into every track.

The singer also addressed her personal journey, humorously remarking on her newfound freedom after her split from soccer star Gerard Piqué in 2022. The couple, who share two sons, Milan and Sasha, called it quits after 11 years together. Reports of infidelity surfaced in early 2023, adding a layer of complexity to their high-profile relationship.

It’s evident that Shakira’s power knows no bounds.
