This Non-Profit Is Showing Latina Beauty Brands Lots of ‘Amor’ By Empowering Them to Take Over the Beauty Industry Globally

Latinas in Beauty has officially launched as a non-profit organization, which is a huge deal for Latina representation in the beauty industry.  

This mission-driven initiative is committed to increasing equity and visibility for Latina professionals and Latina-owned brands in the beauty sector. The organization is calling on industry leaders to join the movement by signing its new Pledge for Equity and supporting various programs that aim to propel the next generation of Latina beauty professionals. 

With over 30 million Latinas in the U.S. who spend 19 percent more on beauty than the average consumer, the potential for beauty brands to tap into this market is undeniable. Yet, Latina representation in the industry remains staggeringly low. Only 1 percent of C-suite executives and 1.5 percent of senior executives in the beauty sector are Latina, and Latina entrepreneurs typically receive less than 1 percent of venture capital funding. Latinas in Beauty aims to bridge this gap by offering resources, mentorship, and opportunities for growth and leadership. 

Founded by three powerhouse Latina executives — Emily Perez, Margarita Arriagada, and Nadine Tapia — the organization seeks to leverage the talents and perspectives of Latinas in beauty to create an inclusive industry that celebrates diversity. Emily Perez, President and Executive Director of Latinas in Beauty, highlighted the mission, saying, “We need to harness our collective power and champion these emerging brands and professionals, to turn the Latina beauty cohort into an economic and cultural triumph for all.” 

Resources Provided by Latinas in Beauty 

Latinas in Beauty’s offerings include programs tailored for professionals and entrepreneurs in the beauty space. The Beauty Professional Program provides mentorship and networking opportunities, while the Entrepreneur Program equips Latina business owners with the tools they need to scale their ventures. A standout feature is the Beauty Brand Incubator + Accelerator, a 12-week business overview certificate program in partnership with a leading university that offers mentorship, coaching, and business audits for Latina entrepreneurs. 

The organization’s annual Latinas in Beauty Summit will further celebrate Latina beauty professionals, bringing together industry leaders, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs for a day of education, inspiration, and networking. 

Major beauty brands such as Ulta Beauty and Rare Beauty have already pledged their support for Latinas in Beauty, along with Latina beauty trailblazers like Tata Harper, Julissa Prado of Rizos Curls, and Babba Rivera of Ceremonia. These partnerships reflect a growing commitment to diversity in the beauty industry and an acknowledgment of the important role Latinas play as both consumers and creators. 

Since its inception as a community platform in 2020, Latinas in Beauty has engaged with nearly 400 industry leaders through 20 events nationwide.
