36 Million Latino Votes at Stake as Poder Latinx and La Borinqueña Call for Action

36 Million Latino Votes at Stake as Poder Latinx and La Borinqueña Call for Action

With over 36 million Latinos eligible to vote in the upcoming election, a critical voting bloc stands ready to influence the direction of the nation. In a new effort to mobilize this demographic, Poder Latinx, in collaboration with graphic novelist Edgardo Miranda-Rodríguez, has launched a dynamic Public Service Announcement (PSA) series featuring La Borinqueña, an animated superhero who calls on Latinos to embrace their civic power.

La Borinqueña, voiced by Broadway actress Cherry Torres, delivers a vital message: vote early and ensure that your voice is heard. The PSA comes at a crucial moment, with the Latino community positioned to make a significant impact, particularly in key battleground states.

Poder Latinx and La Borinqueña Encourage Latino Voters to Show Up

For Edgardo Miranda-Rodríguez, creator of La Borinqueña, this collaboration is deeply meaningful. “Latinos have fought for their right to vote since 1975. Now is the time to exercise that power and ensure our voices are represented,” he said.

This initiative kicks off with three PSAs. The first, tied to Vote Early Day, encourages Latinos to take advantage of early voting to ensure their participation. The second will be released on National Latina Civic Engagement Day, focusing on the essential role Latinas play in shaping election outcomes. The final PSA will zero in on Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts in the critical final days before the election.

Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx, emphasizes the campaign’s urgency. “This campaign is an urgent call to action,” she said. “It’s about reminding Latinos of the power they hold to drive the progress their communities deserve.”

With La Borinqueña leading the charge, the call to action resounds louder than ever: voting is a powerful means of shaping a more just and inclusive America. The future lies in the hands of those who show up, and the Latino vote could be the deciding force.
