What a year it’s been! Fortunately, with every year that passes by we’re blessed with amazing tracks from our talented Latine favorites. 2022 was no different.

This year, we explored many diverse artists in BELatina. We reminisced about epic bilingual music crossovers, and about old school Latine icons; we also had the opportunity to talk to wonderful Latina figureheads like Ceci Bastida and Ximena Sariñana about their musical inspirations. Besides that, we covered exciting new talents coming from the Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic scenes, as well as ADN Maya Colectivo’s music

As we wrap up the year, let’s now talk about five of the most popular songs that were massively replayed throughout the year (and that weren’t from Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti).

If you danced or sang to these songs, it’s safe to say you weren’t alone.

Without further ado, here are some of the jams we loved in 2022.

‘Te Felicito’ –  Shakira, Rauw Alejandro

Not to be biased, but besides Bad Bunny, Rauw’s been working his way to be one of Puerto Rico’s most exciting artists to be on the lookout for. We even recently covered top songs to know ahead of his upcoming world tour with Jabbawockeez. Since then, he’s dropped new music videos to hype his audience … and familia, it’s working. On the other hand, Shakira’s on top of her music game lately. She released her latest single “Monotonía” featuring Ozuna, where she gave us the first taste of her upcoming album.

‘Bombón’ – Daddy Yankee, El Alfa, Lil Jon

We can’t close our 2022 without giving some flowers to Daddy Yankee. He just finished off his last world tour ever, which he started off by releasing his retirement album LEGENDADDY. “Bombón” was not only one of our favorites off it but also doubles as a certified Zumba banger.

‘Mismo Amor’ – Julieta Venegas

Our alternative queen is back. “Mismo Amor” was the first single off her now released album Tu Historia. The results? A wonderful album produced by the Chilean artist Álex Anwandter about accepting to live with your past. Bravo, Julieta!

 ‘GATÚBELA’ – KAROL G, Maldy

How could we forget about this red-hair intro by Karol G? Sheesh! What a way to get our attention. Point blank: We are more than ready for her new album that is said to be out next year.

‘Punk’ – Girl Ultra, Little Jesus

Girl Ultra’s latest album EL SUR featured new sounds from the Mexican singer. For those who haven’t heard the EP, it instantly puts you in a DIY underground club scene in the depths of Mexico City. Other favorites? “BOMBAY,” and “Jungla de locos.”

What were your favorite songs of 2022?
