Paulette Piñero On How the Latinx Community Can Build Their Network

Paulette Piñero Belatina, latinx

Stuck at home? Feeling lonely with remote work? Or struggling to build your network of líderes this winter season? That’s exactly what happened to me when I moved from always-feels-like-Summer Puerto Rico to the-temperature-changes-every-minute Massachusetts. Not only was I new to the area, but I didn’t know how to find comunidades de Latinx folks with similar interests. Building your network takes time and intentionality, so here are 2 ways you can create a network of powerhouse Latinx leaders ready to support you in your career and business.

    • Join a book club. Before you tell me, “Paulette no tengo tiempo para leer!” know that digital audiobooks are the fastest-growing segment in publishing. Put that library card to good use and get free access to audiobooks and e-books with apps like Libby and Overdrive. Want to launch your own book club? Read my blog to start yours.
    • Become a member of a national association. If your focus is to grow as a leader, national associations are the perfect place to start. Whether is attending their free networking events, conferences, or volunteering you’ll have access to local and nationwide opportunities and resources. Being a member of my local ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America) chapter opened doors to co-author books, meet clients, become a public speaker, and connect with Latina leaders from around the US.

The key to growing your network is knowing what area of your life you want to prioritize and then start. Just bring your authentic self and your scheduling link!

¡Hasta la próxima!
