Emiliano Aguilar Says He Wants to Reconcile With His Father Pepe and Nobody Else in the Aguilar Dynasty

Emiliano Aguilar Says His Dad, Pepe Aguilar, Ignored His Messages During His Hardest Years

Emiliano Aguilar has been building his rap career largely on his own terms, without the backing of one of the most powerful musical families in Latin America and, at times, in direct opposition to it. The eldest son of Pepe Aguilar and his first wife Carmen Treviño has spent years navigating a complicated and often public estrangement from the Aguilar dynasty, but in a recent media encounter reported by journalist Ernesto Buitrón, he set the conflict aside long enough to say something he has not said in a long time: he wants his father back.

The reconciliation he is describing, however, comes with a very specific condition. Emiliano made clear that his desire to reconnect extends only to Pepe Aguilar and to no one else in the family, not his younger sister Ángela, and not his brother Leonardo, who has also publicly clashed with him.

A Son Who Still Loves His Father

Emiliano’s words in the media encounter were disarmingly direct for a young man who has spent considerable time publicly airing his frustrations with his family. “My dad is not a bad person, I love him very much,” he said. “I would be a liar if I stood here and told you I do not love him, because I do love him very much and I am going to reconcile with my dad. Not right now, I am focused on this and I want to reach a point where I can go to my dad one day, only my dad.”

The honesty in that statement is worth noting. Emiliano did not soften the timeline or pretend the relationship is in a better place than it is. He acknowledged the distance, described where he wants to eventually arrive, and made no promises about when that day might come.

A Rift That Has Been Years in the Making

Emiliano Aguilar is the son of Pepe Aguilar and Carmen Treviño, his first wife, with whom the regional Mexican music star was married for five years before their divorce in 1995. The relationship between Emiliano and the Aguilar family has been intermittent and difficult for years, but the estrangement deepened considerably around two years ago and has remained strained since.

The tension escalated further in 2025 when Pepe Aguilar made public statements directed at his ex-wife Carmen Treviño, prompting Emiliano to respond forcefully in her defense and in the process exposing a series of long-standing family conflicts that had not previously been discussed publicly. The episode made visible what had clearly been building for years beneath the surface of the dynasty’s carefully maintained public image.

A Career Built Without the Family Name

Beyond the personal grievances, Emiliano has also spoken about what he perceives as a lack of professional support from his father and a broader exclusion from an industry where the Aguilar name carries considerable influence. He has continued building his rap career regardless, accumulating wins that he can point to as entirely his own, and his willingness to speak openly about wanting to reconnect with Pepe suggests that whatever anger has fueled some of his more pointed public statements, it has not erased the affection underneath them.

The picture that emerges from his recent comments is of a young man who has separated the personal from the professional in his own mind, who still wants a father even if he no longer needs a patron, and who is willing to say so publicly while making it equally clear that he is in no rush and that reconciliation, when it happens, will happen on his own schedule.
