Besties, it’s not cliché or corny to watch Christmas rom-coms this season. In fact, if you’re like me, you’re already caught up with the newest films on each streaming service. Predictable plots? Overplayed lovey-dovey scenes? A happy ending?! We’re here for it.
And what better way to feed our guilty pleasure and support our community at the same?
To cozy up and relax during this Holiday season, let’s check out these three must-watch Holiday rom-com flicks with Latine actors.
From Mario Lopez to Laz Alonso, here are three films that you might’ve missed out on.
‘Holiday In Santa Fe’ (2021)
Mario Lopez is one of the faces of Latine-led rom-coms. He’s participated in many Christmas films like “Holiday in Handcuffs,” “The Dog Who Saved Christmas,” and “Feliz NaviDAD,” to name a few. In this particular comedy-drama written by Cristela Alonzo, he takes on the role of an executive whose goal is to get the rights of a family small business that specializes in Xmas ornaments. What else happens? Pues, let’s watch.
‘With Love’ (2021)
“To Joy. To familia. To life. With Love,” that’s what this Amazon Original TV series is promoted as. The plotline is about the Diaz family who aims to find love and purpose. The synopsis reads: “The Diaz siblings cross paths with seemingly unrelated residents during some of the most heightened days of the year – the holidays.” Sounds too familiar, doesn’t it?
‘This Christmas’ (2007)
We love Afro-Latino representation. In “This Christmas,” Laz Alonso, who is of Afro-Cuban descent, and Lupe Ontiveros who is Mexican-American (and you probably know her as Yolanda in the film “Selena”) represent our community. It’s described as a holiday drama that follows the Whitfield family’s first holiday under the same roof in four years. Now, that sounds like drama!
