Music education is not always accessible, but Sebastián Yatra is making sure that’s not the case.

The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® has unveiled the 2024 Sebastián Yatra Scholarship, offering a unique opportunity for emerging musicians to pursue their dreams. This exclusive scholarship, sponsored by Yatra, presents a four-year academic journey at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, with a financial aid package of up to $200,000.

Established nine years ago, this prodigy scholarship aims to support talented music students facing financial barriers. Yatra joins the league of distinguished Latin music icons like Nicky Jam, Sofia Carson, Juanes, Emilio, and Gloria Estefan, who have previously co-sponsored this esteemed scholarship.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Yatra shared, “Joining the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation for their annual Prodigy Scholarship is beautiful because I’m part of something that I would’ve wished for as a young kid. One of my big dreams was to study music at Berklee and although my career took a different path which I’m super grateful for, I would’ve loved to have that kind of preparation and knowledge.”

This exciting announcement follows Yatra’s recent appearance as a host at the 24th Annual Latin GRAMMYs, where he not only delivered an amazing performance but also advocated for the Foundation. His association with the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation dates back to 2019 when he actively supported Latin GRAMMY In The Schools™, an educational program in Miami facilitating learning experiences for young music enthusiasts, guided by industry professionals and Latin artists.

Sebastián Yatra Is Behind a Program Committed to Inspire Emerging Artists

In a move complementing Yatra’s sponsorship, Gibson Gives, the philanthropic arm of the renowned instrument brand Gibson, has stepped in to sponsor three Tuition Assistance Scholarships of up to $10,000 each. These scholarships are designated for students specializing in music with electric or acoustic guitar as their principal instrument.

The scholarship opportunities don’t stop there. The 2024 offerings comprise a total of 44 scholarships open to music students aged 17 to 25. Aside from the Sebastián Yatra Scholarship, the roster includes three Gifted Tuition Scholarships of up to $100,000 each, three Gibson Gives Tuition Assistance Scholarships of $10,000 each, and Thirty-Seven Tuition Assistance Scholarships also of $10,000 each.

Over the last nine years, the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® has bestowed 383 scholarships, investing a substantial $7.6 million in nurturing emerging talents within the music industry.

Raquel “Rocky” Egusquiza, Executive Director of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation, emphasized, “The ongoing support we receive from artists such as Sebastián Yatra and our generous sponsors allows us to take it a step further and create meaningful educational and mentoring opportunities for the next generation of Latin music creators.”
