Shakira has been named the greatest Latin pop singer of all time. Billboard’s latest ranking places her ahead of Celia Cruz and Mercedes Sosa, a decision bound to ignite debate. The Colombian singer, currently on tour, shared her gratitude in an Instagram story. “This is without a doubt a tremendous honor. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to keep working. I hope to give you the best of me every day of my life,” she wrote.

Gloria Estefan follows in second place, with Selena Quintanilla in third. Celia Cruz, the undisputed Queen of Salsa, takes the fourth spot, while Karol G rounds out the top five. Billboard states that the list, which features 50 female artists, was compiled based on the longevity of their musical legacies, the influence of their work, and the promising future of younger talents.

Shakira’s Unstoppable Reign After Piqué

The ranking cements what the world has already witnessed — Shakira is untouchable. While her music has always dominated the charts, her resurgence in the past two years has been impossible to ignore. The release of “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” shattered records, becoming the most-streamed Latin song in a single day. The lyrics left no room for interpretation. Piqué’s betrayal cost him a woman whose success continues to soar.

The world watched as she turned heartbreak into anthems, reclaiming her power with each note. “Monotonía” captured the pain of her breakup, while her collaboration with Karol G on “TQG” celebrated moving on. Every performance, every interview, every moment on stage reflects a woman who knows her worth. Piqué miscalculated. He didn’t just lose a partner. He lost a queen.

Shakira Is Among Greats

The top ten includes Rocío Dúrcal, whose career flourished in Mexico, Ana Gabriel, Olga Tañón, Laura Pausini, and Mercedes Sosa. Further down, Rosalía appears at number 14, ahead of legends like Rocío Jurado at 38, Ana Torroja at 26, and Marta Sánchez at 25. The ranking also features Jenni Rivera at 11, Omara Portuondo at 36, the recently deceased Paquita la del Barrio at 22, and Milly Quezada, the Queen of Merengue, at 42.

Other names securing a place in the ranking include Thalía, Paulina Rubio, Mon Laferte, Julieta Venegas, and Natalia Lafourcade. The list also acknowledges younger stars such as Becky G and Ángela Aguilar, signaling a shift in the industry’s landscape.

Shakira’s music transcends generations. Her career, built on talent and an instinct for reinvention, remains untouchable. This title is not just a recognition of her past. It is a reminder that her best years are still ahead.
