Get ready to mover el esqueleto and shimmy your way into an electrifying celebration of Latin music, culture, and entertainment as global music authority Billboard made an important announcement recently.

To everyone’s delight, the Grammy Award®-winning sensation Shakira has now been added to the star-studded lineup of Billboard Latin Music Week. This sensational event is set to take place from October 2nd to October 6th, 2023, at the vibrant Faena Forum in Miami, perfectly coinciding with National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Not so long ago she was crowned as Billboard’s Latin Woman of the Year and her power continues as she is set to grace the stage for an exclusive superstar Q&A session. The session will be moderated by none other than Leila Cobo, Billboard’s Chief Content Officer for Latin/Español. This Colombian powerhouse also joins an already awe-inspiring roster that includes names like Arcángel, Maria Becerra, Fonseca, Sebastián Yatra, and more, with even more incredible talent waiting to be unveiled.

Shakira: A Force of Music and Empowerment

Shakira, with over 95 million records sold worldwide, isn’t just a music icon, but a trailblazer who has opened doors for Latin artists to conquer international markets. Her monumental success as a crossover artist paved the way for a new era of Latin music. She’s the epitome of a YouTube sensation, garnering over 25 billion cumulative views and being the most-viewed Latin female artist on the platform. With three Grammy Awards, twelve Latin Grammy Awards, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star under her belt, Shakira’s accolades are as diverse as her talent.

But it’s not just about the music for Shakira. At the age of 18, she established the Pies Descalzos Foundation, which has already built and adapted 9 public schools, impacting over 150,000 children and nearly 900,000 families. She’s been a vocal advocate for early childhood education, gracing prestigious universities like Oxford and Harvard with her insights. Her commitment to education led her to President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and earned her the Crystal Award in 2017.
