Economic Hardships Affect Our Pets Too – These Orgs Can Help You and Your Furry Friends belatina latine

Pets (or as many call them: fur babies) are increasingly becoming the top priority for many people. After all, a lot of millennials are opting for a child-free life as they decide to tend to their pets instead.

But, inflation, cost of living, and an uncertain job market are making everyday endeavors more difficult than originally thought. From worrying about rent increases to the cost of groceries, it is no surprise that pet owners are concerned about giving their pets the life they deserve.

Economists and financial experts are expecting this year to be a bit rocky, which means we must all take a closer look at our spending habits. It’s the best way to ride out this wave of uncertainty.

Cutting miscellaneous expenses and only prioritizing basic necessities are, without a doubt, essential for this financial climate. Included within the list of top priorities should be any expense pertaining to pet care. They are family and are sentient beings who can’t be neglected, no matter the circumstances. However, some help is always welcomed.

The good news is that there are plenty of organizations helping animals, pet owners, and any fur baby with everything from free food to medical services. Get to know these organizations below!

Treasure Coast Food Bank

Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Pet Pantry Program provides free food to families, individuals, and seniors who are having difficulty feeding their furry friends. As they state on their website, pet food insecurity is a secondary effect of human food insecurity. Find a location near you here.

Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank

Chow Wagon Pet Food Bank helps families keep their four-legged family members healthy in their homes by providing them with food for their fur babies. Each month, Chow Wagon distributes over 10,000 pounds of pet food to families through local food pantries, Meals on Wheels programs, and social service agencies. GOODS is a program of Greater Good Charities that distributes food, essential supplies, clothing, housewares, toys, and more to pets and people in need across the world. This program is responsible for distributing pet food and supplies to designated animal rescue partners.

The Humane Society of the United States

The Humane Society of the United States equips people with resources that help them with vet bills all the way to pet food. Visit their page for the complete information.

CoFund My Pet

CoFund My Pet is the only personal crowdfunding site dedicated to pets and vets, which allows anyone to fundraise for a vet bill. CoFund My Pet is built to give people with pets a place to get needed help from others and assure them that their donations are ONLY being used for veterinary care expenses.

If the last few years have taught the world anything, it is that things can change at the snap of the fingers. This is why we must always be aware of the resources available because you never know if you might ever need it or if someone near you is in dire need of the information you hold. Having access to resources and tools is half the battle – sharing the knowledge to help others is what makes a difference.
