Latine Heritage Month is off to a luminous start as Bonita Fierce Candles makes retail history, casting its warm glow across all Barnes & Noble stores nationwide. That’s over 600 stores! What makes this more impactful is that Bonita Fierce Candles is the first Latina-owned candle brand to grace the shelves of this retail giant.

Behind this achievement lies a heartwarming tale of dedication, family bonds, and a passionate mission to celebrate Latinidad.

Each candle in this remarkable collection carries with it the essence of Melissa Gallardo’s childhood home as well as scents that speak to so many Latine households. In fact, according to her LinkedIn, she wrote that each candle was hand-poured in her childhood home by friends, family, and new additions to the team.

This Latina’s business has been a community effort, which showcases the collectiveness of the Latine culture. There’s no denying that Bonita Fierce Candle’s story is one that blends the sweet scent of comfort and identity.

Bonita Fierce Candles Continues to Push the Envelope

But this isn’t just a victory for the brand; it’s a triumph for the entire Latine community. Bonita Fierce Candles is on a mission to revolutionize the home fragrance industry by replacing toxic and generic scents with products that resonate with authenticity.

They’re also building a space where diverse Latine voices and stories can flourish.

“We believe being Latin@ and American is not a linear experience and that feeling of belonging, of finding your place, of being home is an experience to be celebrated,” she wrote in her post.

Melissa Gallardo couldn’t be happier to make her candles more accessible to everyone and to amplify representation in the candle aisle. So, if you find yourself at a Barnes & Noble, bask in the delicious scents of Bonita Fierce Candles, and don’t forget to share your experience by tagging them in your pictures or sending them a DM. Might we suggest the cafecito con leche candle? After all, what is a Latine household without the familiar scent of cafecito?

If you can’t make it to a Barnes & Noble store, you can explore their captivating collection online at their website too.
