Do you ever wonder what really goes into the songs that you love, how these tunes are given the power to transport you back in time, placing you at the exact time and place you were the moment you first listened? NBC-Universal’s hit songwriting series Songland gives fans an inside look into the world of how this all comes together, with the much-anticipated second season of Songland premiering on Monday, April 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT

Songland pairs unknown songwriters with artists seeking a hit, assisted by producers-panelists in the music industry who are excited to have the chance to craft the raw song in the studio: Grammy-winning producers and songwriters Ester Dean, Ryan Tedder, and Shayne McAnally will be there to help new well-known artists find the best potential for billboard climbers. There are also guest recording artists who will be featured on the show; the first season of Songland had huge names like The Jonas Brothers and John Legend looking for their next chart-topper.

Season 2 does not disappoint: Songland has brought in the cavalry, as some of the guest recording artists include Grammy-nominated Latin pop superstar Luis Fonsi, Bebe Rexha, Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line, and Usher

Fonsi, the Multi-Platinum crooner best known for 2017’s mainstream smash “Despacito,” gained world notoriety when his Spanish-language tune topped the charts in 50 countries. The hot Latin song broke seven world records, rightfully, taking a place in the Guinness World Records. In early 2019, the video reached new highs as it topped 6 billion views on YouTube. The popular song was remixed with Justin Bieber and certified Platino 34 times by the RIAA (the Recording Industry Association of America).

Needless to say, a single hit like “Despacito” has taken Luis Fonsi to places that have helped elevate and open doors for many more aspiring Latino artists. There are also exciting times for Songland, as the second season also features showstoppers Boyz II Men, H.E.R., Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, and Ben Platt.

The relationship between a song and its songwriter can be very personal for two reasons. Either the song’s lyrics are in direct connection with an artist’s personal experience, or the songwriter and producer have a genuine collaboration that creates real magic in the studio, giving us a hit. Music lovers benefit from these partnerships, as it brings us the sounds that make our hearts sing. With Songland, the same figures who brought you NBC’s The VoiceEmmy Award-winning producers Audrey Morrissey and Chad Hines, along with Adam Levine — have teamed up with director Ivan Dudynsky and Eurythmics co-founder and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Dave Stewart to create a show that is as engaging as The Voice, except it gives a behind-the-scenes look at what takes place between songwriters and producers to make the music you love.

In case you missed Season 1 of Songland, the show produced several chart-topping hits including seven of them that ranked #1 on the iTunes music charts. The producers are sure to bring fans an exciting Season 2 starting April 13 at 10pm EST on NBC-Universal. Don’t miss a chance to check out how your future favorites came to life!
