Bad Bunny, also known as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, continues to expand his presence on the big screen. The Puerto Rican star, celebrated for his genre-defying hits, has joined the cast of the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel. Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the sequel sees Adam Sandler returning to one of his most iconic roles, the underdog golfer with a temper, originally introduced in the 1996 comedy classic.

What We Know About Bad Bunny’s Participation in ‘Happy Gilmore’

The film marks Bad Bunny’s latest foray into Hollywood, following his appearance alongside Brad Pitt in Bullet Train and his role in Cassandro with Gael García Bernal. As he invests more time into acting, the singer continues to surprise fans with his versatility. In a Vanity Fair interview last year, he hinted at this shift, saying, “You could say that I have been investing a little bit more of myself in acting.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production has already begun, with Sandler teasing the return of the beloved character on Instagram, posting, “It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.”

The script is penned by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, with longtime collaborators Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds on board as producers. Dennis Dugan, who directed the original film, is also attached to the project as an executive producer. With cameras rolling, fans are eagerly anticipating how Bad Bunny’s role will weave into the chaos and charm of Happy Gilmore’s world.

For Bad Bunny, repped by UTA and Rimas Entertainment, this role continues a remarkable trajectory into Hollywood’s spotlight. His upcoming projects include Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing, further signaling his deepening engagement with the film industry.

What do you think about Bad Bunny joining such an iconic movie as ‘Happy Gilmore’ is? Will he be able to do it justice? Only time will tell.
